She is the utmost professional, and brings excitement to every minute working with her. She is very intelligent and has incredible ideas. There is a reason Mojang hired her, and they were absolutely correct in doing so, because she IS incredible. And if you don't see it, then you are just going to be a lonely person. I've seen people say that it's their right not to like someone for whatever reason, and that's absolutely true. But if you don't like Minecraft Chick, then you just don't know her. And it's still your right not to, but have you ever heard the phrase, "if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all?"
Seriously.. has she beaten your puppy or something? She did an amazing Job at Minecon. Were there some issues? Of course there were. There are at ALL cons. I have yet been to a con and thought it went over a 100%. Especially some group's FIRST con! Seriously. This was their very FIRST convention, and I will never forget the incredible weekend I had. If that is the outcome, then I can't wait for the next one.
I feel truly blessed to be able to call Lydia a friend, and I had a hard time watching the comments on the We Built This Town video about her, and we made a call as a group to not give in to the trolls, but seeing this bs after Minecon is just too much.
Lydia. You are an amazing person, and we all stand behind you. Don't listen to the trolls, cause that's all they are doing is Trollolllolllin'

I have to agree with you. Lydia is a wonderful person. I haven't met her face to face, but watching her in her videos and seeing how she has interacted with the community, I can tell that she is kind and intelligent. She cares about everyone and from what I saw of the livestream of Minecon, she has put her heart into her work.
Lydia, I hope that one day I will get the opportunity to meet you. Until then, know that there are people that love you for who you are and have your back no matter what. ^^

It really doesn't help. It's obvious you don't know her at all. She isn't a girl gamer, or wasn't when she started the video serious. That was the whole point of the series. To take a person who had never played video games before and start playing Minecraft.
Where is a legitimate complain about her? You mean the fact that she went to help Mojang at E3 and did such an incredible job of interfacing with the public and getting Mojang's message out that they decided to hire her? Where were you? Probably at home trying to tear someone else down on youtube comments. She has been more community in minecraft than you could even know. Who are you to even suggest that she isn't? What have you done for Mojang and the community?
And that video you link? Is just pure garbage, and is probably the ONLY place you have learned any info about Lydia to begin with.

2. Any complaints about her as a person are irrelevant, only her seemingly heavy involvement with Mojang.
3. Making accusations that MCC is the latest in a long line of people who I apparently "tear down" on YouTube doesn't really help your case. Offer counterpoints to my arguments, don't just fling insults at me.
4. "Who are you to even suggest that she isn't?" I'm someone with an opinion, and implying that I have to have some sort of status to "even suggest that she isn't?" is just asinine.
5. Also, saying that it is necessary for me to have "done something for Mojang or the community" is like saying you have to be a film director to criticise Michael Bay. Or be a develpoer to criticise games.
6. It would be nice for you to counter some of the points ForeverPandering made in the video, instead of labeling it as "pure garbage" without giving any reasons for it being so.
Let's see... Foreverpandering's video.. Instead of just letting you know from personal experience, that his whole video is garbage, I can give you reasons for it being so.
Let's take the first 60 seconds of the video, where he doesn't even say anything accept call MCC ugly, make fun of her wig, and call her a whore. For one, I believe she's absolutely gorgeous, and the fact that she wore a wig to begin with because she shaved her head to help raise money for cancer research, and not to get attention, and he thinks that makes her a whore? I don't really need to watch anymore to know it's full of garbage. But I did, just so I knew what information you were armed with in your hate for her.
The 2nd minute of the video is all about how she doesn't know how to walk in her very first video. Her very first time ever playing minecraft. He takes a full minute in describing how she should know that. Even though she's never played the game. So that's your next reason for not liking her? Really?
"I am sick of the internet and its various communities. I am sick that people can find a moderately attractive girl spending 57 painful and horrific videos trying to find one piece of diamond exciting and entertaining" is his final point before mad ramblings about why he hates the internet. So, really.. you and he are just jealous because people find her entertaining and you don't understand why.
If I've missed some point in his ramblings or yours.. please... PLEASE point me to them. Because so far, all I have heard are assumptions, that fall FAR from the truth of who and what MCC is.
1. He doesn't call her ugly, you even say yourself that he infact refers to her as "moderately attractive". So...
2. He doesn't call her a whore. He sarcastically comments that "A natural hair colour or shape is a desperate sign for attention, you whore!" That comment is not in reference to her.
3. Starts talking about the fact that she can't use WASD = 1:24.
Stops at = 1:52. Where did you get "a full minute" from?
4. Not knowing why people find things entertaining =/= jealousy. Just because some people harbor discrepancies with others doesn't automatically make them jealous.
5. In fact you only reffered to 1/6 points in my response, and that one happened to be a video by someone who isn't here to defend themselves. How about adressing the other 5 points?

Go watch the series. It's obvious, but as I've stated before, I've talked with her personally. I've interviewed her for our show, and I know first hand what it was about.

Why? That's all you are doing to her. I have yet to see a point about why it should be ok for people to talk bad about someone they don't know. Why is that ok?! Did she do something to you? What did she do to you that made you so mad? Her videos? Then don't watch them if you don't like them.

An opinion based on WHAT? that is what I'm talking about. I have yet to see an opinion based on fact or truths. The closest I have seen is that she is unattractive. Even IF in your opinion she is... IS that ok to bash someone because of? Because of what someone looks like? Really?

There were really no points in that video. And that's my point.
If you feel it's ok to go around trashing someone that you know nothing about, then go ahead and keep doing it. If you can't explain why you don't like her in some way other than pointing at someone else's misguided views that are also based on nothing... and then to make your argument, you just point at semantic errors and still nothing based on anything, it's really kind of sad. THAT is what makes me sad about the internet. That you and and the panderer whoever will sit there and make judgments on people without knowing a thing about them. He really needs to make a video about himself.
It's just sad.
In hindsight, I really think I was unwise in choosing that video to support my argument. TotalBiscuit can get quite brash when he feels passionate about something. You're right, it's not ok to bash someone for their physical appearance. I now acknowledge that she's worked hard to get to the position she's in, and I have no right to bash her over one video and heresay from Reddit.
The internet really upsets me, sometimes. Too many people saying things that they wouldn't say to someone's face. Too many people that get to have a platform to express opinions that have little basis in fact or experience.
Lydia is a kind and generous person. Every time I saw her at Minecon, she was running around, trying to make the event the best that it could be. It was an absolute pleasure to work with her.
I know Lydia personally. Funny how everyone thinks that Minecraft is all that she is about. It was a fluke! She did not think it would get to this and mostly stuck at it for the kids and fans. We have talked many many times about this. It has all been right place right time crazy goose bumps stuff. AND she deserves all of it...Lydia is a wonderful human being. She has done nothing but give give give. Here is a great example: Before was MCC she raised $20,000 for cancer research. Well she lost a bet to shave her head to donate to locks of love. That is even why she wore a pink wig to begin with (there is more here I wish I could tell you guys but I cant for privacy but believe me people only know only the least about her). Personally she has made my two daughters feel important and special more than I will reveal publicly (I don't cast my pearls before swine especially when it involves my kids). She has freely given her time to spend with us. I truly believe in Karma and Lydia is proof. In fact I would call it instant Karma. Yeah maybe she had some vested interest because she has an 80% chance of getting cancer because it runs in her family. Think about this for a second that means almost everyone she loves(ed) has been or will be stricken with cancer. It has given her an awesome outlook on life but her inner struggle must be immense. I can't even fathom her daily inner struggle. Reading the comments above makes me SICK that people are debating the worth of another human being let alone someone I love like a sister. I consider Lydia like a sister to me and I am really protective of my sister(s). And usually I would use my 40 trips around the sun and 18 years of marriage communication skills to rip everyone here a new one so hard you would beg me to stop. People will attest I usually eat Trolls for breakfast and have the wit of 10 and will take you to the moon and back again. But you know what? I am going to step back and watch instant karma in action. The universe has a way of fixing things. Sometimes I just like to sit back and watch people sew their seeds both good and bad. Now I hope this sits on your minds as crappy things happen to you in the next days/weeks hell your whole life if that's all you sew...I hope it dawns on you that your reaping what you sewed and start planting better seeds. I did that long ago but you know what? I still am reaping some of the bad I've sewn years ago. But now the good I've sewn out weighs the bad and life is much better. I wish that life for you all because it doesn't seem you have it yet. It's not easy either. Think your so tuff? Try caring!
I don't know MinecraftChick that well, not on a personal level, as much as I'd love to get to know her, I can say that despite this, I think she's an amazing person. I can see that she is full of care, she is loveably charming and charismatic and she has done things for the community that others could never dream of. People are entitled to their own opinion, but basing opinions off appearance is sickening, basing opinions from general statements of annoyance rather than really seeing anything wrong at all, or assuming the worst from what others have said (especially those people who are following the bandwagon of hate!) is sickening, you people who go out of your way to insult, to try and bring somebody down who, if you were showing any shred of common decency too, would probably be there for you too, are sickening!
MinecraftChick is such an amazing role model to all types of people, the things she has done, all of the good that has happened to her are clearly deserved but some people are too short sighted, they don't give her a real chance, that is unfair and unjust. People should review their own lives, think about what they are doing, who they are showing themselves to be before making horrible comments about others.
